About
Sheng-Hsiung Hsu 許勝雄 is a Taiwanese composer and pianist. Across more than two decades he has written and produced music for over a hundred television series and films, and he is the rare composer whose Golden Bell Award nominations span both craft categories — sound, with Flavor of Life 含笑食堂 (2013), and drama score, with The Making of an Ordinary Woman 2 俗女養成記 2 (2022).
He came up through the room: a working pianist who took a recording-studio job in 2002 and learned the craft from the engineer’s chair. By the mid-2000s he was writing for the dramas that defined Taiwan’s idol era — Hana Kimi 花樣少年少女, Romantic Princess 公主小妹, Hot Shot 籃球火 — an apprenticeship in melody, pace and deadline.
The 2010s brought the work that made his name inside the industry: In Time with You 我可能不會愛你 (2011), still among the most awarded dramas in Golden Bell history; An Innocent Mistake 罪美麗; and Flavor of Life, where his sound work earned the first of his two Golden Bell nominations. Season after season he became one of the quiet constants of Taiwanese television — the name in the credits when the picture needed to feel like something.
Recent years widened the frame: the beloved The Making of an Ordinary Woman 俗女養成記 (2019–2021) and a second Golden Bell nomination; PTS’s social-realist Who Killed the Good Man 大債時代 (2021); and Netflix’s psychological thriller Shards of Her 她和她的她 (2022), scored to global delivery standards. And he still plays — the pianist’s instinct, from a Taipei Arena tour to jazz-festival main stages, remains the engine under the writing.
Through it all runs a single conviction: sound is not a stage of post-production but the breath of a story. It is why he founded Edgar Music 艾格音樂, the Taipei studio where his scores are recorded, sound-designed and mixed under one roof — today up to Dolby Atmos.

自配樂創作、聲音設計、同步錄音、後期製作至 Dolby Atmos 混音，始終以整體性的聲音思維介入影像，視聲音為敘事的呼吸，而非後期工序的填補。
